Description
Thermo Scientific™ Biodyne A and Biodyne B Nylon Membranes are sheets of unmodified or positively charged Nylon that provide excellent binding characteristics for nucleic acid transfer, blotting and detection methods.
These two varieties of nylon membrane are manufactured with a similar matrix pore size (0.4 micron), and both are supplied in packages of 8 x 12cm sheets. The Biodyne A Membrane contains both negatively and positively charged groups, enabling it to bind many kinds of macromolecules. The Biodyne B Membrane contains exclusively positive charges, providing the highest possible binding capacity for negatively charged molecules like DNA and RNA. The membranes are resistant to heat and solvents and will not shrink, crack or tear.Highlights:
Versatile and durable – achieve strong DNA binding by baking or UV-crosslinking without damaging the membrane
Easy to use – pre-cut 8 x 12cm sheets are the ideal size for standard mini-gel transfers and microplate dot-blots
High signal-to-noise ratio – lower background than nitrocellulose and most other nylon transfer membranes
Biodyne A Nylon Membrane
- Offers superior signal-to-noise ratios resulting in high sensitivities Provides extremely low backgrounds
- Contains 50% amino and 50% carboxyl groups
- Provides a hydrophilic surface with an isoelectric point at pH 6.5
Biodyne B Nylon Membrane
- Surface is modified with Positive Zeta Potential Provides high sensitivities
- Gives rapid nucleic acid binding without UV light or baking
- Enhances attraction of negatively charged biological molecules
